How the Chamber Works for Its Membership
We currently serve close to 400 business members in the Richmond County Area. The Board of Directors and staff are proud to provide the following membership benefits and resources to all members.
Maintain and staff a visible visitor, resident information center, and Chamber of Commerce office, twelve months a year, Monday through Friday, regular business hours, providing information to the public on business services and products provided by member businesses. The Chamber employs three staff members to operate the information center and carryout the Chamber's Plan of Work.
Chamber staff fields phone calls from residents and visitors everyday. The nature of phone inquiries includes but is not limited to the following: business referrals, county government referrals, and community service inquiries, directions, new business inquiries, and tourism questions, requests for relocation/information packages, visitor information, maps, school information, demographics, statistics and area phone numbers. (Only Chamber business member's phone numbers are given and receive referrals)
The Chamber prepares and mails out an average of 10 relocation and information packages every month, year round. Packages are customized to fit the inquirers needs, using materials and information published by the Chamber and supplied by Chamber business members.

The study also indicated that a consumer is 63% more likely to patronize a business if they know it is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce. Display your member decal proudly. THE VOICE OF BUSINESS The Chamber acts as the voice of the business community in the affairs of local, state and federal government and serves as the liaison between elected officials and The Chamber membership.
NETWORKING - The Chamber is famous for its business –after-hours program. Each month, we host at least one networking event. This is a proven way to meet potential customers and expand our business.
FREE SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS - How can you keep up with the changing market trends, new regulations and business technology? The Chamber partners with the local Small Business Center to offer a series of dynamic and informative programs about topics that are critical to the successful operation of your business.
REFERRALS The Chamber gets hundreds of calls and emails requesting the names of local companies who provide products and services, and the Chamber staff works hard daily to refer only chamber members to people who inquire about where to do business. What a great way to expand your business.
MEMBER–TO-MEMBER DISCOUNTS Save money. Chamber members receive special discounts by shopping participating members. Our member to member discount program will allow you to reach a loyal group of customers.
MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES - The Chamber provides unique opportunities to members to advertise their products and services. Our website and our printed material are cost effective ways to promote your products and services to over 400 member companies. All members are listed on the Chamber’s website and are linked for FREE to their businesses’ web site.
MEMBER SERVICES For a fee, members can purchase a member mailing list. The Chamber conference room is available to members for FREE and can accommodate up to 20 people. (Must call ahead to make sure room is available.) Notary service is also available at no charge. Ground breakings and Ribbon Cuttings for new and expanding members.
U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and the United States Chamber of Commerce have partnered to provide our small business members (by definition, a small business is considered to have 100 employees or fewer) with a membership in both organizations. Now, with local Chamber membership we bring you more benefits and services than ever before. By maintaining your local Chamber membership, you also obtain membership in the U.S. Chamber, the world's largest business federation.
