NCEMC Dedicates New Power Plant

Local and state officials joined with leaders of North Carolina's electric cooperatives to dedicate the Hamlet peak generating facility. Powered by natural gas, the plant will operate when the demand for energy and the wholesale cost of power is at its highest. The facility has the capacity to produce up to 280 megawatts of electricity annually. North Carolina's electric cooperatives provide energy to 2.5 million people in 93 of 100 counties, primarily in the rural parts of the state.
