First Health Richmond Memorial Hospital is a 153-bed, full service hospital offering a wide range of outpatient, inpatient, and specialty care services. The hospital is known for providing complete care for the community. Built in 1952 in response to a movement for a non-profit community hospital, the hospital provides full obstetrical care and women's services, outpatient surgery, respiratory therapy, speech and hearing therapy. A 24-hour, fully staffed Emergency Department is available with helicopter access to larger medical centers in North Carolina. Cardiac catheterization, MRI, and Lithotrispy are all available as outpatient services. The hospital utilizes one of the few mobile 1.0 Telsa high strength magnetic fields and high frequency radio wave technology.

Two major construction projects have recently been completed at Richmond Health Systems. A new 30,000 square foot Physician Office Building, located adjacent to the hospital, houses numerous specialists and family physicians under one roof providing a convenient location for office visits. Additional space is available for growth of practices and new physicians. A new wing addition to the hospital is now providing added space for surgery and labor and delivery. Private delivery rooms are now available to provide the most pleasant stay possible for newborns and their parents. The new wing will allow for additional renovations of current facilities to improve access for patients. Included in these renovations is an area, which will be featured for community activities.
Richmond Health Systems is a very active participant in the community offering health fairs and discounted health screenings and educational programs for local industries, businesses, and community groups. Annual events such as Wellness Screening Day and Pregnancy Wellness Fair attract over 850 people each year.
Richmond Memorial Hospital operates Richmond Family Medicine, Ellerbe Family Medicine, Richmond County Home Health Agency, Emergency Medical Services and Palmer Hinson Care Center, which is a 45-bed long-term care facility within the hospital.
