Agriculture is a vital component to the local economy contributing over $47 million annually. With over 1,400 farms in operation tobacco, fruits, vegetables, corn, soybeans and cotton are the major crops grown representing approximately half of the farm income. The other fifty- percent is derived from poultry and livestock.
Agriculture provides a major attraction for both citizens and tourists as numerous fresh produce stands are found throughout the county. These produce stands allow you to choose the freshest vegetables, which have just been harvested.
